Where is Antalya?
It is situated on a cliff in the southern part of Anatolia peninsula, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea (ancient Pamphylia). It is on the gulf bearing the same name.
The west of the Antalya gulf extends to the Bey Mountain group, and Toros Mountains which are located on the north east side.
Food & Drinks
Turkish cuisine is one of the richest cuisines of the world. That the Ottoman Empire has spread on a vast land reflects to Turkish cuisine as a prosperity.
Yoruks’ alimentation style dominates over Antalya alimentation culture. The basis of Yoruk alimentation style is formed by animal husbandry and wheat. Although fresh vegetables grow on the shoreline in the hinterland there is more wheat and corn. One can find all the cuisines of the world in Antalya hotels and restaurants. But some of the special foods of the region: sac kavurma (meat), Tandır kebab(meta), Kolle (cookeb by mixing different types of corn and fruit sprinkles – sugar added), Tomato cive (cooked with tomato and wheat), Hibes (halvah) .
Turkish Breakfast
Turkish breakfast consists of: cheese, honey, jam, (Antalya is also famous for its jams), black and green olive, salami, egg, butter, tomato and cucumber, bread. You can also supply fresh orange juice, season fruits, yoghurt, bakery, corn flakes from the hotel you are staying at. The indispensable beverage of the Turkish breakfast is well-steeped tea.
Lunch
Kebab is mostly preferred for lunch. Kebab is cooked in a way that steak slices aresticked on a skewer and cut into thin slices when it is ready to be served. Kebab can be eaten as fast food as well as in bread or on a plate with rice.
Other foods are: Meatball, pitta, lahmacun known as Turkish pizza and ayran (a beverage made by mixing yoghurt, water and salt).
Dinner
Turkish dinner begins with snacks: dolma, ezme, haydari, cacik, hibes, humus, imambayildi… You should absolutely taste them.
Appetizers are salad and pickle
Main meals are steak, chop – liver, fire bar, tandoor, kagit kebab.
Desserts
Some of the famous desserts are: baklava, kadayif, bulbul yuvası, sutlac, tavuk gogsu,. Moreover, Antalya’s burned ice-cream is very delicious.
Beverage
The most famous drink of Turkey is tea. Tea is also consumed in Anltalya where is very hot in summer in order to relief. After meals Turkish coffee is preferred. Turkish coffee is made by grinding the coffee grains coming from Yemen and Brazil. It is served by cooking with water and sugar with its bubbles.
The famous drink with alcohol is raki. Usually it is mixed with water. Apart from raki, beer is the most preferred drink with alcohol and the most famous trademarks are Efes Pilsen and Tuborg. You can every kind of alcoholic beverage in bars and restaurants of hotels.
What to eat: Antalya enjoys an authentic cuisine which is a wonderful blend of the Arabic and Mediterranean influences. Among its specialties, there are the Kulakli Soup whose ingredients are chickpeas and small diced meat, Tahinli Piyaz, which is a dried-bean salad seasoned with crushed sesame seeds, Tandir Kebap, Kabak Tatlisi (pumpkin desert) sweetened by crushed sesame seeds and grape syrup and bergamot jam.
